About Us
The Goldfield Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the history and heritage of Goldfield, Nevada for present and future generations. The Society hosts two events each year. Both are geared to promoting our local businesses as well as highlighting our local history as the World’s Greatest Gold Camp.
AUGUST: in conjunction with Goldfield Days, which is held the first weekend in August, the Society hosts a popular Poker Walk. Players ante up for the game and then pick up their cards at participating businesses as well as various historical sites. This event is bankrolled and sponsored by The Best in the Desert Racing Association with prize money for the three best poker hands.
OCTOBER: The Society hosts a Birthday Party for Goldfield inviting locals and travelers for FREE punch, cake, and history at our Community Center. This event is scheduled as close to the 20th of the month as possible since our “gold camp” was officially named Goldfield on October 20, 1903.
